The only Date Back note on the bank! Very Good with hot pink rubberstamped signatures of H.N. Byrne, cashier and Windsor Volney Rice, president. Rice was quite a person with mines in Nevada, Idaho and Utah. He also was president of the following banks: First National Bank of Park City, Utah, and Copper National Bank of Salt Lake City, Utah! Byrne was also affiliated with the Copper National Bank of Salt Lake City, Utah. Condition: Fine+. Serial Number: 1265. The First National Bank Of Ely was chartered on January 19, 1907 and it opened for business on February 23, 1907 with capital stock of $50,000. The first location was the southwest corner of the Northern Hotel, which had originally been the location of the White Pine County Bank. In 1908, the bank outgrew its quarters at the Northern Hotel and built a new building at 333 Aultman Street where the Zadow Hardware building once stood. In 1923, they again moved into the Northern Hotel, this time in the northwest corner, fronting Aultman Street but still bordering their original quarters. Placed into conservatorship on March 16, 1933 and a licensed again on July 27, 1933.Total amount of notes outstanding on July 19, 1935 was $3,260 in Series of 1902 and $45,740 in Series of 1929.
