# 19 for 10 shares issued to George Allen. Datelined Chico, Butte County, Cal. 1867. Signed by secretary James C Martin and president J. Bidwell. Mines located on the Emerald Lead, Hardin District Humboldt County, Nevada. Incorporated Sept. 24, 1867. 25c Power of Att'y Revenue Stamp. Crude mill vignette. No printer. Not cancelled. One color issue at the 'a' in Company. Otherwise extremely nice. This is the sister certificate to the Chico Gold & Silver Mining Company. The Chico is far easier to find and this would make a nice matching pair. The Hardin District is located at Black Rock. Hardin City was the center of the district, but did not last a year of more. Bidwell was part of the Bidwell-Bartleson party which is often credited with being the fist wagon train to cross the continent. Although they had to abandon their wagons of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Bidwell would go to work for John Sutter and fight with him during the Mexican War. He would find gold on the Feather River, was a friend to the Indians, and was a political presence in Butte County. City: Hardin District State: Nevada Date: 1867
