Clear Creek County. Postmark used from 1861-1886, at which point the name shortened to Empire. "Empire City, C.T." postmark on cover sent to Philadelphia, with 3 cent Washington stamp with target killer. The town was named after New York (the Empire State). Early Colorado mining camp.
