40 Caliber Over Under Engraved Belt Pistol. This percussion pistol is double barrel, trigger and hammer. It dates from the 1830-40’s and is most likely sold through the American market as the engraving looks to be of the Famous engraver L.D. Nimschske. His style is noted on both sides of the receiver as well as the back strap and trigger guard. His Signature feature was to engrave a fish or wolf with scales or detailed fur on the hammer of the gun. This piece has the left hammer with that signature engraving but not the right hammer. Both hammers are matching but possibly the right hammer is a period replacement. The inlaid Silver in the barrel consist of silver bands on both upper and lower barrels near the breach and a floral design on the top barrel. State: City: Date: ID#45735
