This group has a block print engraving of Major General Jesse Reno as well as a CDV card with the same pose. The engraving is by J.C. Buttre (5.5 in. X 8.5 in.) from the photo by J.E. McClees. The CDV is by J.E. McClees of 919 Chestnut St., Philadelphia (2.5 in. X 4in.). Both pieces are in excellent condition. Major General Reno is the namesake for the Biggest Little City in the World; Reno, Nevada by railroad magnate Charles Crocker of the Central Pacific Railroad. He named the town at Lake's Crossing on the Truckee River for Jesse Reno. The Major General fought in the Utah War and lost his life during the Civil War; shot off of his horse in September, 1862. A map of Reno's participation at Bull Run is included.
