Cliff House & Seal Rocks ~ This was the 3rd cliff house, an ornate 7-story frame building built in 1896 by Adolph Sutro, "King of the Comstock Mines" in Virginia City, NV. ~ The building survived the 1906 quake, but was completely destroyed by fire on September 7, 1907 ~ (8 .5"x 5"photo) Unique 2-fold Color Souvenir Menu has illustration of Seal Rocks on the cover, and inside has cocktails & wine lists on left side, and meal selections on the right. A folded extension shows photos of the 3 dining rooms and a gift shop. On the reverse side of the flap are illustrations of the four (4) different structures that existed on this site at one time or another. Inserted into the menu is the Sunday Dinner Menu for August 13, 1950, Included in this Lot are twenty-two (22) postcards, showing the five (5) different Cliff Houses that have existed on this site, beginning in 1858 ~ Color (17), B&W (4), RP (1)
