EXTRA RARE! Number 143 for 1,000 shares to HJ King in 1871. Signed by Secretary DL Perry, treasurer DL Perry and president DM Graham. Vignette of placer miners. Pen cancelled. Light fold in upper right, but no edge issues, rips, tears, discoloration, etc. Large 25c US Revenue Stamp. This is one of the best of all of the Georgia gold specimen mines! Placer work began at this mine in 1831. It was located at the original site of the Georgia gold discovery. It is on the Battle Branch; so called because a group of Tennessee and Georgia miners engaged in a bloody battle for rights to this land. With the gold strike in California, this mine was abandoned by the miners. But by 1871 the mine was up and running again. Yeats reported that the mine had just closed. Mine has placer works, and shafts! Several reference works about the mine are included!
