Extra rare! Inc. in Illinois. Number 319, issued for 100 shares to John C Berwind in 1890. Signed by secretary Fred C Exter and president TJ Cheney. Not cancelled. Black border and print, gold seal. Mine specific vignette: Indian teepee village. Printed by Levinson & Blythe, St. Louis. Overall in very nice condition with folds, holes in seal, and pinholes. 8.5 x 12" Yeates says that this mine was "...lying along the Etowah River, and along the county line between Lumpkin and Dawson. Mining, in a small way, has been done on this property." This company's major mine was the Gold Hill Mine on the Etowah River. In 1878 it was operated by its owners, a company from Boston. It is located west of the Etowah River a mile and a half from the Battle Branch Mine. By 1896 Yeates reported it was no longer active, but that several old cuts and tunnels were on the property. In 1902, E&MJ reports that the company will operate the Betz Mine near Auraria, and use the bromo-cyanide process.
