This bright stylized work is a prime example of Evelyn Ackerman's mid to late career wherein she'd evolved away abstract modernism and became a keystone artist of the California mid-century modern style. Typically, her work was made in woven tapestry. This is a scarce example of a silk screen print based on one of her hanging tapestries. It is unknown whether this print is to scale, though it is likely to be the same size as the tapestry it is based on.

This print is not professionally mounted. It is mounted for display purposes only, and has light damage, particularly on the long edges, where two sections smaller than ~.5" are torn off. Very subtle darkening along the margins is present, approximately 1" on any given side. The artwork itself, not including whitespace margin measures approx. 16"x29.5".

"The Ackermans hold the rare distinction of being included in every exhibition (1954 to 1976) of the prestigious California Design series, held primarily at the former Pasadena Art Museum. The couple has been the subject of numerous articles in local and national press and their work is held in many public and private collections including the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Milwaukee Museum of Art, and The Henry Ford Museum. Their work continues to appear regularly in museum and gallery exhibitions, be the topic of programs for Modernism Week and Docomomo, and is the focus of the book Jerome and Evelyn Ackerman: California Mid-Century Designers (2025, Pointed Leaf Press)."
