Phoenix District, Gilpin County. Incorporated in Massachusetts. No. 87, issued for 10 shares to Hannah W. Soule on May 18th, 1863 in Boston. Signed by the president, Millet, and secretary J. Wetherbee Jr. Not cancelled. Red print and corporate seal. 25 cent Power of Attorney stamp attached at left. Printed by Mudge & Son, Printers, Boston. Folds, soiling. According to Hollister (1867), the company owned property on the Parker, Thomas and Hope in the Phoenix District adjoining South Boulder. They also had property on the Revenue in South Boulder and the Illinois in Central District (Lump Gulch). In 1867, they were tearing out 40 stamps and a Crosby & Thompson furnace from their mill in South Boulder Park. They had also leased property to W.E. Darby, of Gold Dirt, for 2 years. Secretary Wetherbee appears to have written about his experiences in Colorado Territory: "A BRIEF SKETCH OF COLORADO TERRITORY and the Gold Mines of That Region" (1863).
