It is not often that the back of a piece of postal history deserves first attention. But the back of this cover has a full face map of the railroads into and out of Denver! Also shows the nearby gold & silver lands, South Platte River, etc. The front also is fabulous. Grill & Brinker, wholesale grocers corner advertisement. Incredibly strong strike and cancel. Sent to A.F. Howes of Laborte, Colorado Territory. We can date this by the city and cancel. In 1866 the 'CITY' in Denver City was dropped. In 1867 the four ring target was added to the mail. Handwritten on the envelope is "Grill & Brinker, 1868." This early Denver postal history piece has a lot going for it!!!
