Lot of 11. 1) People's Transportation Company. Company ran riverboats and trains between Portland and Corvallis. Five shipping receipts, 1865-70, three pictorial, two for the Steamer Rival. 2) Oregon Steam Navigation Company. They purchased a "first class locomotive" for their railroad in the Cascades. They also ran steamers south of Portland to Salem in 1862. By 1874, they possessed all of the river steamers on the upper and lower Columbia and the Willamette rivers. Four receipts, 1860s-71. 3) Pictorial billhead for the Steamship Montana, 1867. On October 18, 1866, the Montana was used to ship the "Oregon Pony" locomotive from Portland to San Francisco. The locomotive had previously served on the Oregon Steam Navigation Company's portage railway in the Columbia River Gorge. 4) 1859 manuscript receipt for the Steamer Wilson G. Hunt, potatoes.
