Lot of 59 postcards of the Ferry Building in San Francisco. Designed in 1892 by American architect A. Page Brown in the Beaux Arts style, the ferry building was completed in 1898. Brown designed the clock tower after the 12th-century Giralda bell tower in Seville, Spain, and the entire length of the building on both frontages is based on an arched arcade. Until the Bay and Golden Gate bridges were built in the 1930s, the terminal was the second busiest in the world behind only Charing Cross Station in London. The building survived both the 1906 and the 1989 earthquakes. Real photo, chromo-litho, white border, 45 unused, 14 postmarked, some before the 1906 earthquake.
