This cert is extra rare. "Storey County, Gold Hill District, Nevada Territory" (printed on the left around a vignette of a baker). Incorporated February 8, 1864. Low number 10, issued for ten shares to H. P. Rollins on February 20, 1864 in Virginia, N. T. Signed by the president (illegible) and secretary A. C. Knox. Not cancelled. Black border and print, three vignettes: woman on reindeer (center), dog head (bottom center), and baker (left side). Printed by Gold Hill News Print. Pinholes, folds, toning, old tape residue. A. C. Knox is listed as an attorney and notary public, as well as the secretary for numerous mining companies. The Fillmore is listed as being in the American Flat District with Knox as secretary and office at Room 13 in Taylor's Building. American Flat was west of the Gold Hill in a mountain flat. The citizens of this town made an effort to take the state capital away from Carson City in 1865. But like many mining camps, by 1867 the town gave way to sagebrush. Notes on Knox and the area included.
