Two reports to the U. S. Senate from the Secretary of The Treasury on the state of the finances, one dated December 3, 1845 and the other December 9, 1846. Both are 6 x9 inches; and missing covers; the first is 957 pages, the other 111 pages. In July 1846, receipts were 29,499,247 and expenditures 28,031, 114 and the balance in the Treasury was 9,126,439. The U. S. government had a balanced budget!!!
