The Danbury Mint released a limited edition of 7,500 Sterling Silver plates weighing approximately 12 troy ounces depicting the first Continental Congress that met from September 5 to October 26, 1774, at Carpenters' Hall in Philadelphia. The design in the eight-inch diameter plate has been filled with a dark material to enhance the contrast of the image and portions of the design have been selectively plated with 24-carat gold to further bring out the detail in the artist's work. The words, "American Bicentennial" appear in an arc above the design, and "First Continental Congress" appears at the bottom. A small ribbon banner above those words has "1774" inside. A small plaquette on the back indicates the number of plates made and indicates it is "NO 2857" in the production run. The plate slides into a soft cloth sleeve treated to prevent tarnishing. This, in turn, is nestled into a plush red, satin-lined, 10 x 10-inch display box with a red leatherette-style cover and a magnetic clasp. This comes from the liquidation of Northwest Territorial Mint. City: State: Date: HWAC# 79562
