A stock certificate from Napa County, California's first public wine company, Napa and Sonoma Wine Company, St. Helena, 187X. Signed by J. Beringer, as secretary. No president's signature. Wine grape vignette, 1,000 shares, unissued, incorporated Dec. 4, 1872. Jacob Beringer, along with his brother Frederick, founded Beringer Vineyards in 1876 in St. Helena, California. Beringer Vineyards is California's longest continuously operating winery, and is still in operation today.
