In original case with certificate of authenticity. Five ounces of pure silver struck by the Singapore Mint for the government of Western Samoa. Proof finish. Obverse: America's Cup / Perth Australia / (sailing ship) / 1987; reverse: Samoa I Sisifo / (trophy cup) / five ounces / $25 / 999 silver. 65 mm diameter, authorized mintage 35,000, issue date 31 January 1987. The American challenger Stars & Stripes 87, sailed by Dennis Conner, beat the Australian defender Kookaburra III, sailed by Iain Murray, in a four-race sweep in the best of seven series.
