When one thinks of famous names in Goldfield, one thinks of Oddie or Pittman or Wingfield or Davis. They don't think of Johns or Bragdon or Eisen or Stansbury. They should! The latter four - R. L. Johns, H. T. Bragdon, A. C. Eisen, and W. M. Stansbury (which we shall call the Early Four)- paved the away for so many others in Goldfield. (1) One January 23, 1904 the Goldfield Gold-Mining Company of Nevada was the first Goldfield mine to be incorporated. Johns was president, Bragdon secretary, Eisen treasurer, and Stansbury incorporator. The Early Four were the beginning of making mining in Goldfield a real business. (2) On January 7, 1904 the Early Four were one of the very first to Lease their property. They leased the January and February Claims of the Goldfield Gold-Mining Company to LL Patrick, John Jones, and Zeb Kendall. (3) Mining runs on power and the first power company on the scene was the Goldfield Electric Light and Power Company. Eisen was president, Johns secretary, Bragdon vice president. This company was in the local papers on June 4,1904 and by January 1, 1905 they had strung wire around Goldfield and nearby mines. [Goldfield by Shamberger]

This is a lot of five stocks with the Early Four's signatures. 1) The Adams Goldfield Mining Company, May 18, 1905 signed by president Johns and secretary Eison. 2) The Combination Extension Mines Company, May 9, 1907, signed by vice president Bragdon. 3) The Francis-Mohawk Mining and Leasing Company, July 5, 1906 signed by vice president Bragdon. 4) The Red Hill Mining Company, December 1906 by president Johns. 5) The Goldfield-Aloha Mining Company, November 9, 1906, signed by vice president Stansbury. (Stansbury was also the president of the Nevada Hills Extension Mining Company at Fairview.) An incredible group of four extremely important, yet forgotten, Goldfield mining men! Overall these are in nice to extremely nice condition. (Bennett Collection) Date: c1905 Location: Goldfield, Nevada HWAC# 59693
