A Monarch Production. This is believed to be an original print and is numbered on the bottom left "No. 2916" On the bottom left is "Quigley Litho Co. Kansas City". Approximately 28" x 42". An obscure all-black silent western movie produced by Lawrence Goldman about Robert Mason, a newspaper reporter played by Calvin Nicholson, who escaped from prison after being wrongfully convicted for the murder of Mark Leithier, a well-known labor leader played by Henry Dixon. In the film the protagonist falls in love with a cowgirl played by Dorothy Dunbar, but the antagonist outlaw, Buck Conley (played by Talford White), a.k.a. the "Night Terror" also has eyes for Dunbar's character, Tex Miller. When Conley learns Mason is an escaped convict on the run under a false identity, "something big and entirely unexpected happens", according to one Billboard review, that brings the lovers together in a happy ending. [Ref: https://silenthollywood.com/theflamingcrisis1924.html] The film premiered in Kansas City, MO in 1924 but now appears to be lost from film history, probably due to the controversial billing and the Civil Rights movement. This rare, full color print was salvaged from the dumpster behind Piper's Opera House in Virginia City, Nevada in the 1970s. Discoloration and dirt, creases, fold marks and pin holes. Rough edge on right. Condition is still better than expected for an original this old. Overall fair. Has been stored under plastic on backboard for the last 50+ years. We found one identical poster listed for sale recently priced at $800. Must have, Rare Find for Movie and Film Collectors! City: State: Date: 1924
