Fourteen books with three duplicate titles of Flash Gordon "based on the famous newspaper strip by Alex Raymond" in the Little Big Book series (10) and the Better Little Book series (2) published by Whitman Publishing of Racine, Wisconsin, and one from Dell Publishing of New York. Regardless of publisher, each book is 3.75 x 4.75 inches and between 1.5 and 1.75 inches thick. The pages are consistently designed with 12-to-13 lines of text on the left page and a captioned black-and-white cartoon drawing on the right page. Titles include: Flash Gordon and the Emperor of Mongo (Dell), Flash Gordon and the Ice World of Mongo (two copies), Flash Gordon and the Jungles of Mongo, Flash Gordon and the Monsters of Mongo, Flash Gordon and the Perils of Mongo, Flash Gordon and the Planet Mongo, Flash Gordon and the Power Men of Mongo (two copies), Flash Gordon and the Red Sword Invaders (two copies), Flash Gordon and the Tournaments of Mongo, Flash Gordon and the Tyrant of Mongo, and Flash Gordon and the Witch Queen of Mongo. Note that Ice Worlds and Tyrant of Mongo are also flip books -- the upper right portion of each illustration creates a mini movie when the pages are rapidly flipped from front to back. All 14 books are generally in fair condition with fragile spines and only a few pages torn. Although these were originally marketed for young readers, they are now collectors items that will not handle rough treatment.
