This rather large piece is 6.5 in/ 165 mm and weighs 1 lb. 5 oz. It appears to be a spade or hoe tool for agricultural work associated with north-eastern Oklahoma (this piece is specific to Mayes County). It has the appearance that it is a remnant of a much larger unfinished tool, however it has a polished bifacial edge (with a corn gloss) indicative of a hoe and would have been mounted with an L shaped handle. This piece is rather large for this area where larger pieces for digging are usually found in the Mississippi Valley to the north. A spectacular find. From the Bracken collection. Please see photos for details. (ref. Oklahoma Indian Artifacts, Bell, 1980, p. 25). Oklahoma
