This Lathe was used at Luning after it was no longer in use at Bodie. Purchased at the Bobby Bell estate. Bobby Bell was born in 1914 in the gold and silver mining camp of Bodie . Bell followed his grandfather and father's footsteps becoming a successful mine and mill operator. Bobby lived in his beloved Bodie for nearly fifty years where he mined the rich tunnels in Bodie Bluff. [Explore Historic California, Magazine, May 2005] When the town was sold to the state of California, he packed up his materials and moved to Luning where he set up shop again. FOB Hawthorne (At the time the catalog went to press the item was still in Hawthorne. It is our intention to get it up to Reno before the auction. Please call our office at 775-851-1859 if you wish to know the current location.)
