Cert. #30, issued for 12 shares on April 8, 1863. Datelined Aurora, Mono Co., Cal. This company had a small float of only 2,000 shares at $100 each. Issued to R.G. Sanolam(?) and signed by C.H. Arnold as president and H.W. Leech as secretary. Vignette of a basket of flowers center, and a single rose at left. Black on creme. Agnew & Deffebach, printer. Chas. H. Arnold is listed on the tax roll, Aurora, 1863. Leech was there from the beginning, no occupation ever listed. The company is not listed in Stretch, 1866. Gold and silver ledges were discovered at Aurora in 1860, and by 1861, the town had nearly 2000 citizens. California and Nevada both tried to claim Aurora as their own , and both states claimed it as their county seat (Mono and Esmeralda). Aurora even lured Samuel Clemens to do some gold mining in 1862, prior to being hired in Virginia City to work for the Enterprise. He then adopted his famous pen name, Mark Twain. VF. Uncancelled.
