A simple map of the area surrounding Floriston, California, an unincorporated community in Nevada County. The town was founded in the late 1800s; it was a company town, owned and operated by the Floriston Pulp and Paper Company from 1900 to 1930. The company was eventually forced to shut down due to the creation of sulfuric acid byproducts, and despite a brief attempt to revitalize the town in the 1940s, it dwindled in population. The map charts the course of a proposed county road passing through Floriston. It marks the Truckee River as well as several significant businesses, including the Pulp and Paper Company. Good condition; see photos.
