4 - Fonda,Johnstown & Gloversville 4 Cancelled Second Mortgage Bond SR1792 Fonda, Johnstown and Gloversville Railroad was a 132-mile steam engine and electric interurban railroad that connected towns in east central New York to Schenectady. It made its' profit by transporting workers in the glove industry from 1870 until the 1980s Then they could get a train to New York City or Chicago. It also handled freight and had freight interchange with both the New York Central and the Delaware and Hudson Railroads. Business decline with the coming of the Depression. In 1932, they stopped passenger service. Freight continued on for a few more decades then was later taken over by the Delaware and Otsego Railroad management and then eventually abandoned.
