Two letters, two letters with covers and one cover addressed to Fort Dodge. Much of the content is personal, but as always there are gems. "The most of Company A have returned home. Capt. [George] Ringland arrived here a short time since , but I believe he only intends to stay a short time....His health is not good having had fever...." He wants to go into law practice when he gets out. Ringland would go on to serve in the 11th Pennsylvania during the Civil War. He would go into the manufacturing of plaster of paris and into banking in the 1860's. His house is now a museum at Fort Dodge. News about the town and there is also some Civil War news "Battle of Reams Station" for example. (Potter Collection) Date: 1858-1865 Location: Fort Dodge, Iowa HWAC# 59428
