Stampless cover. Manuscript Paid 10. Post office open from 1832-1847. Letter is postmarked Fort Towson which is now part of the Choctaw Nation. It was originally built to guard the southern border on the United States with Mexico. In 1831 it was used to guard the Choctaw Nation. The letter inside is datelined Fort Washita and dated 1846. It is addressed to General Towson Paymaster General and the namesake of the fort. Letter is a note on payment to Dickinson. Covers in the Oklahoma/Indian Territory Postal History come with very nice presentation and history.
