This group represents four different style checks for the Trench Mill, all with either revenue stamps or imprints. Three of the checks are signed by James G. Fair. 1) No. 329. Oct. 3, 1870. 2 cent US IR adhesive stamp over 2 cent Nevada adhesive revenue. Signed by Fair. Soiling along bottom and cut cancel. 2) No. 470. Sept. 4, 1872. RN-C21 revenue imprint. Signed by Fair. Folds, cut cancel, light soiling. 3) No. 987. April 4th, 2874. Signed by Fair. RN-E7 revenue imprint. Made out to A.A. Savage. Cut cancel. 4) NV Bank of San Francisco check. RN-G1 revenue imprint. Soiling and pinholes. The Trench Mill was located near the mouth of American Ravine in lower Silver City. Built in 1860, it was purchased by Fair and Mackay in 1869.
