Four business ledgers from various Montana establishments; 1) a 360-page, approx. 9 x 14-inch ledger, with dates from February 1890 on page 1 to August 1890 on page 10. Remaining pages are unused. Frequent entries for Cleveland [Mining] Co, James Reardon (acct loan), Montana Fire Clay Co, Flint Creek Mining Co, and include references of sending items to Anaconda, MT. 2) Expense Acct ledger for an unknown, Butte, MT, mining operation, 7.5 x 12.5 inches, 111 pages, mostly used. Repeated entries include things like Chinaman for month's wages, Clear Grit Mine, Rent, Trip to Helena, Postage Stamps, Lottery Tickets, stock share purchases, etc. Date range is July 2, 1886 to May 26, 1887. 3) 76-page ledger, date range is 1936 to 1938, records Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Bank, and Cash columns. Appears to include a list of members and dues paid, and other entertainment-related expenses. Frequently included "bowling expenses." Handwritten entries are consistently sharp, and the book is in excellent condition with no wear or damage issues. 4) 504-page, 12.5 x 16-inch ledger in good condition recording expenses of a mining operation. Numerous blank pages between sections with headings such as Belmont Mine, Blast Furnace, Reverberatory Furnaces, Reverberatory Construction, Blacksmith Shop, Boiler Shop, Carpenter Shop, etc. The Belmont Mine is located in Butte, Montana, now very close to the west rim of the Berkeley Pit.
