There four photographs came from original negatives. They are Shamberger photographs and each one can be found in the Rawhide book. 1) On page 3 is a photograph identified as probably the first tents erected in Rawhide in early 1907. This location is in Stingaree Gulch which became the adult section of the town.. From left to right is Jack Davis, Cal C. Dunning, Rom Roseberry and Mason McLeod. 2) Page four has a photograph celebrating the naming of the town. The sign was done by Angus McLeod in Yerington and brought to Rawhide by CA McLeod. Pictured are Albert Bovard, Slim Pierce, a visitor, Mason McLeod, and Charles Holman. Holman was credited with naming the town. 3) On page 9 is a picture of Dead Horse Well. This was taken in 1915. It was the original source of water for Rawhide, although I am not sure why anyone would want water from a well named for a dead horse. 4) On page 30 is a photograph of the great conflagration on September 4, 1908. Photos are 5 x 7". From the personal collection of Hugh Shamberger. Photos identified by Hugh on the front or the back. City: Rawhide State: Nevada Date: c1907 HWAC# 49947
