Framed and matted Western Union Telegraph Company telegram in code to WH Lowell of the Savage Mine. Sent from JA Pritchard in San Francisco. Received on July 4th, 1873 in Virginia City. Message is encrypted but incompletely translated in pencil: "....will...it up to last day." Telegram is 8 x 5.5" in 14 x 10.5" frame. WH Lowell is listed as the secretary for the Savage Mining Company in the 1873 V&T Directory. James A. Pritchard was the president of the Savage Mine (listed in the 1873 SF Directory).
