In 1944, Frank Trevors, Nevada Gaming Artist, was commissioned by Felix Turrillas, Jr., owner of Felix's Bank Club in Lovelock, Nevada, to paint a set of six large works similar in style and grandeur as ones Trevors had painted for The Palace Club in Reno years earlier. Trevors had modeled his Palace Club paintings after works by Western artists Charles Marion Russell (1864-1926) and Frederick Remington(1861-1909) but at much larger sizes. He chose to use the same style for the six new paintings for Turrillas, Jr., and these works remained at Felix's Bank Club until the death of Turrillas, Jr. and the closing of the facility in 1977. Trevors would never directly copy Russell's original but would alway add a personalized touch to distinguish his own design (for example painting a bull as a cow instead) The composition of this painting does not match any Russells that we know of, so it may be an original design by Trevors.
