14K Gold Locket. Likely Masonic or from another fraternal organization, but missing piece on obverse makes exact identification difficult. Three tiny screw/gromet holes in upside down triangular shape where jewels or another piece of emblem detached from obverse of locket, under crescent inscribed with Latin motto: "Fidelitas Ad Alios" meaning Faithful to Others The reverse is engraved "P.V.C. (Monogram initials A G ?) Santa Barbara No. 49." Research returned few results for P. V. C. other than Protezione Volontaria Civilem, an Italian organization for the volunteer protection of citizens. There is a Santa Barbara, Italy, but it is more likely this is a California piece. The locket snaps tight together. 27.5mm, appears to be 14k Gold. 14.5 grams. Reserved at current gold spot value.
