Classic Vintage 1970s Mirror Art Print featuring a high-quality mirrored illustration by Frank Frazetta. These mirrors gained huge popularity in the 70's, alongside the science fiction and Fantasy art genre. Two panels (layers) of glass and mirror, Frazetta's artwork is screen printed onto the bottom piece of glass, and the top layer is a mirror overlay which has the reflective mirroring removed to show the Frazetta illustration. The two layers give it a 3 dimensional effect. This technique is copy-written and was manufactured exclusively by Pleasure Mirrors, Inc. Hicksville, NY. Measures approximately 21" x 17". Like New condition.
Artwork is a reproduction of famous 1970 artwork, the Princess of Mars, by legendary Fantasy artist, Frank Frazetta, one of his most identifiable and career defining works. (The original painting sold for $1.2 million at auction) Known as the "Pioneer" of Fantasy Illustration, Frazetta began drawing at the age of 3, entered the Brooklyn School of Art at age 8 and got his work published in comics by age 16. His career took off in the comic book world and after his 1964 illustration of Ringo Starr made the cover of Madd Magazine, United Artists selected him to do the artwork for a James Bond movie, launching him into the movie poster industry. Eventually Frazetta's artwork dominated Fantasy paper back book covers as well, including the artwork for the Conan the Barbarian series, making his a household name in the art world. This painting was done at the peak of Frank Frazetta's career and is one of his most famous and most reproduced works. Frazetta's art is still celebrated and appreciated today at the Frazetta Art Museum, located on Frazetta's estate in Pennsylvania. A rare and collectible vintage piece of Fantasy/Sci-Fi Art from the 1970s.
