Three different embossed variants of Fred Clark's drug bottles. The earliest of the trio is from Ely-McGill.. The other two are mavericks, and do not have a town name embossed on the bottle, allowing Clark to use them at any of his stores. Clark had drug stores in Taylor, Ely, Ruth and McGill. The first bottle mentioned is suspected of dating to 1907 just before Clark opened the Ruth store. it is 4.5" tall in original condition as found - slight stain, light purple, no chips. The other two clearly pre-date this bottle. The multi-sided Clark is comparable to the same style bottle from Shaw and may date to 1897, when Clark first started in Ely. The second maverick dates to a similar period. Both are mint. The rectangular Clarks has a glass imperfection (not chip) on the base. See Holabird, v2, pp81-83.
