Judge George N. Aldredge of Dallas Texas, addressed the United States Senate, January 30, 1896. The speech is in this 16 page pamphlet (5 x 8 inches). "The government which first established the gold standard is more obedient to the will of its people than ours is..." Aldredge had retired as a judge and was a director of the National Exchange Bank of Dallas. He ran for Congress as a Democrat but withdrew in protest against the party's support of free silver. A speech he gave to the American Bankers' Association in 1895 in Atlanta, Georgia, was widely quoted and read into the Congressional Record.
