A cabinet card photograph of Fryer Hill in Leadville, Colorado, the site of the famous Matchless Mine. The photograph was taken by G.D. Wakely, a notable Colorado photographer originating from Chicago. American prospector, businessman, and politician Horace Tabor purchased Matchless in 1879, eventually becoming one of Colorado's richest men through the mine's profits; following Tabor's death, the mine's superintendent cabin would become the solitary residence of his wife Baby Doe Tabor until her own death in 1935. The photograph is high-quality and is in excellent condition save for a small spot in the upper left corner. The reverse side of the photograph bears the words 'Fryer Hill' and Wakely's faded signature. [ Leadville Colorado
