This may be the only billhead known. G.P. Morrill, Apothecary and Druggist, Manufacturer of Soda Water, South C. Street, Opposite Gillig, Mott & Co.'s. Billed July 29, 1872(?) to Dellapaina & Noca for 1 box soda. Elaborate vignette of drug store bottles and scales. Serious condition issues with heavy soiling and portions of the left side missing. Comes with a second left side piece (also with condition issues). The two were used together for the picture in Volume One of the Nevada Bottle Book. George P. Morrill came to California during the Gold Rush with his family. He moved to Virginia City in 1862 and bought an interest in the Warner & Muncton Drug Store with A. M. Cole. Cole left to pursue his own empire, and Morrill continued the drug business, adding a soda works in 1868. He was the first of the Virginia City druggists to bottle his own soda water. He declared bankruptcy in 1872 and left the Comstock. Two bottles are known: an embossed apothecary bottle, possibly the first embossed apothecary bottle made on the West Coast; and an embossed soda bottle.
