Located at Fish Springs (printed under vignette). Inc. in Utah. No. 354, issued for 200 shares to John R. Baines on Feb. 10th, 1897 in SLC. Signed by president George Crismon and asst. secretary Geo. Weiler. No cancelled. Green border and black print. Ornate title with large shaded vignette of eagle perched on beehive. Printed by Salt Lake Litho. Co. Pinholes, folds, creases. 8.25 x 11.5" Kantner, 1891, calls the Galena Mine one of the "most phenomenal silver and lead propositions in the world." The Utah and Galena mines were discovered by Colorado pioneer Charles Van Alstine in 1890 as he travelled along the stage road between Utah and Nevada. The shaft at the Galena was down 400 ft.
