Lot of over 60 Billheads/Letterheads from commercial enterprises based in Gallatin County, MT during the late 19th century. Examples: Nichols & Chittenden "Dealers in Groceries, Hardware, Boots and Shoes" based in Cooke, correspondence dated 1890 - 1893; and Chestnut Coal Mines in Chestnut, correspondence to the renowned A.M. Holter Hardware Co/Helena dated 1896. Many more manuscripts included in this wonderful collection. Towns represented include Cooke, Chestnut, Three Forks, Springdale, Stillwater, Grayling, Belgrade, Big Timber, Melville, Logan, Moreland, and Sappington. Note: Gallatin County lies in southwestern MT with West Yellowstone's entrance to Yellowstone National Park. The county is named after Albert Gallatin, James Madison's Treasury Secretary who formulated the Lewis & Clark Expedition. Gallatin County was founded in 1864 with Bozeman as the county seat.
