& received of Singleton Floy[d] and Davis Floyd the executor of Benjamin Floyd Deceased for Negros Judy Sam Larry and Jackson Three Equal parts of the negros at sixteen hundred and fifty Dollars April the 8 day 1837 Davis Floyd and Frances Floyd.
According to the Jefferson County Records of the Circuit Court, Case Files Record
Group: PAR Number 20780403, in 1804, “Davis Floyd, a slave catcher, took Joseph
Antoine, a free man of color, out of jail and tried to sell him across the Ohio River, but
Antoine was too old and too weak to attract any bidders. He was taken back to jail in
Louisville.”
