Rare. #153 for 10 shares issued to C. Fagan on August 31, 1864 at Unionville. Signed by president G. R. Nightingill and secretary Geo. W. Rutherford. Incorporated June 12, 1863. Listed as Sierra District, Humboldt County, N. T. Unionville" printed to the right. 25c Protest revenue stamp. Vignette of a large stag. Kenny & Alexander of San Francisco printers. Rare color on a Nevada Territorial certificate. Heavy folds and light foxing. In September of 1863 the Gideon's Band's claim was listed as being on a good ledge. Nightingill was a Marysville man and Rutherford was a Unionville man. The Sierra district was centered around Dun Glen, although Unionville would have been the nearest transportation and financial town. The Sierra District was discovered in 1863, the year of our certificate. Unionville was the county seat of Humboldt County from 1861 to 1872 and a happening place in the early 1860's. Includes notes on the officers, mine, district and camp.
