Rare location. Location: Reveille Mining District, Nye County, Nevada. Inc. 1875. No. 4695, issued for 50 shares to AW Foster in 1875. Signed by the president (illegible) and secretary. Not cancelled. Black border and print, underground mining vignette. No printer listed. Deep folds with some tears, creases, discoloration. The Reveille district is 35 miles from Tybo. In Thompson and West's 1881 "History of Nevada", the Gila is mentioned as the major mine in the Reveille District. It had a shaft of 460' and a tunnel 1000' long. The Gila was the major producer of this district. It ran from 1874 to 1891 and produced $530,000 of the $611,000 produced by the district. "The claim of this company, located above, embracing several locations, aggregating 100,000 feet, has been but partially prospected, but that little brought to light large bodies of milling ore, which return average assays of $100. Assays have been made high as $600. The mine is in a prosperous condition and work is pushed rapidly." (Annual Mining Review and Stock Ledger, 1876, p. 48).
