(printed upper left). Incorporated June 25, 1863. Dateline Carson City, N.T. Number 15, issued for 50 shares to (illegible). Signed by the president, Well. Stewart, and secretary, OAF Gilbert. Three vignettes: dogs chasing buck; wheat bushel; and dog next to safe. No printer listed. Not cancelled. Folds, a few nicks along the edges, and some stains. Not in Filer. OAF Gilbert had arrived in Carson City when it was still a part of the Utah Territory. He was a clerk, Book keeper and farmer. Wellington Stewart arrived earlier - 1859. Throughout the territorial period, Stewart bought and sold land, water, mines, saw mills, and railroads! He was active politically and socially in his new community! He was an adept and aggressive businessman, politician and leader in Nevada before it was even a state. Bought in 1865 his seedier side becomes known. He accepted bribes (allegedly), influenced trial as a judge, stole money and debauched young girls. Additional information on the Stewart, Gilbert, mine and mining district is included.
