Lot of eleven. Includes Volume 1, Number 18. Lead article is of the clipper ship Staffordshire with large drawing of it leaving the harbor. Other lead articles include: Coffee Plantations, Harper’s Ferry Virginia, Concord Monument, Pilots Monument (2), William Penn, The Priestess – a story, the Arrival of the Hungarian Kossuth and Louis Napoleon. Our favorite is the story of the HORSE RAILROAD SNOW PLOW with great drawing of horse pulling a snowplow over the tracks in Boston. Gleason's Pictorial Drawing-Room Companion was a 19th-century illustrated periodical published in Boston, Massachusetts. The magazine was founded by Frederick Gleason in 1851. The publication name was changed to Ballou's Pictorial Drawing-Room Companion in 1855. It ceased publication in 1859. For a 159 year old newsprint this is extremely nice condition. We have handled as little a possible to preserve the wonderful condition of these old papers.
