A fine art advertising textured print on canvas of an oil painting featuring the Kentucky colonel of Glenmore Distilleries. He was the emblem of Glenmore whiskey, a product of James Thompson and later his sons. R. Monarch Distillery began in 1849 in Owensboro, KY. Thompson acquired R. Monarch Distillery in 1901, and renamed it Glenmore Distillery Company. In 2009, the company was acquired by the Sazerac Company, and is still operated under the name "The Glenmore Distillery".
In the painting, the Kentucky colonel is holding a newspaper while sitting at a table in a saloon, with a quart of Kentucky Tavern Whiskey on the table, with a full glass sitting next to it. Gold metal plaque on the frame is embossed, "Old Friends, Painted expressly for Glenmore Distilleries, Co. Inc." The artist's signature appears to be "L. Morris." After searching, there was no information on the Internet found on this painting or artist. The beautiful artwork, featuring rich brown tones, measures 18" x 24" (21.5" x 27.25" framed). The frame is wooden, decoratively carved and painted gold, with paper backing that has been repaired and a hanging wire. The print is in very good condition, with minimal damage, and would be a centerpiece on any saloon aficionado's wall. Owensburg Kentucky
