Framed map measuring 37" x 21.5 inches. "Map of the Gold Bluff Mines and the adjacent claims in Sierra County California surveyed and compiled by George F. Taylor Feb 1900. One thousand feet to the inch." Hand drawn map showing the mining claims associated with Gold Bluff. At the center of the map is Downieville (*without labeling it as such) at the junction of the south fork and north fork of the Yuba river. The map extends from the norther part of township 19 north and range 10 east northward through the southern half of township 20 north. The gold bluff site is shown clearly in the southeastern corner of section 23 with at least 10 buildings delineating. The Gold bluff mine was located in 1854 and a stamp mill was built in the 1890s with appears to be at the center of Gold Bluff in this map. The mine is well discusses in Sinnott Downieville, Sierra County Vol I, 1991, pages 353-4. This is an original pen and ink map that we believe may be unpublished.
