One of the all-time great mining stock vignettes. Inc. in Colorado, 1902. No. 1284, issued for 133 shares to LJ Mathewson on June 20th, 1911 in Denver. Signed by FA Joslin (secretary) and J Jay Joslin (president). Not cancelled. Fabulous vignette of hammer with gold head! Printed by the Denver Lith. Co. Folds, toning, a few ink stains on the bottom. 8 x 11" J. Jay Joslin ran the Joslin Dry Goods Store with his son Frank. The Joslin Building (Tritch Building) is in historic Downtown Denver and is now a Courtyard by Marriott. Based on a prospectus we previously sold for the company, their claims were all within 1,000 feet of Clear Creek ,and they had an electric power plant on-site. The mouth of the tunnel of the Gold Hammer Group was within 1,000 feet of a railroad and 38 miles from the smelters at Denver. According to an ad in The Mining Investor, Vol. 61, 1911, the company had nine patented claims and four others on Donaldson Mountain, Idaho Springs, Clear Creek County. At that time, the tunnel was 300 ft. Ken Prag Collection
