Memorandum of Ore Assay for the Gold Hill Assay Office (W.S. James) for a deposit by the Overman Mine in Gold Hill on Dec. 28, 1885. What makes this sheet special is that the deposits have handwritten notes about where they were collected: "sample from up raise 47 ft north of Lambert incline" or "old...ground above WxC #4 on 3rd floor." FH believes these to be notes from the mine's geologist. This is not usually included on assay sheets. Signed by James as Assayer. Wm. Sutherland Print. 5.5" x 8.5" Soiling and torn left side.
